A plea encourages readers to boost subscriptions in the Chronicle popularity contest. It urges writing to friends, promoting new subscriptions for triple votes and old subscriptions for double votes, noting deadlines and delivery delays. The piece stresses daily reading of the story and active outreach to maximize standings before the February 4 finish.
The special triple and double vote runs until December twenty fourth and contestants urge rapid subscriptions. Voters are asked to send in early subscriptions so papers start distributing and contestants can collect votes. Experience shows subscriptions can be won with the extra vote offer.
The Chronicle asks candidates to verify with each attacmber whether they are now using the paper. They cannot award more votes to any candidate and will check all submissions for accuracy. If a ballot is recorded as a new voter, it must reflect the correct ballot for the candidate. A Pew subscriber is someone not previously taking the daily or weekly Chronicle before this part of the process.
A Centralia election drive promises grand district prizes including four $125 business scholarships, four $85 diamond rings, four $40 solid gold watches, and multiple pianos from Baldwin firm. Voters vote by district with top totals winning prizes. prizes include $550, $460, $409 and $400 Howard or Monarch pianos, plus district prizes chosen by overall winners.
