After a trip to Marengo Wurl Brody returned home Saturday. Mr and Mrs C D Moore were callers in Vinton Saturday. The Helpiary Hand club met with Mrs Elmer Cook Thursday. Refreshments were served. Mr and Mrs Cliff Henkle and Mrs John Kramer attended the fair at Central City. Burrell and C D Moore attended the fair at Oskaloosa Thursday. J H Ruby was a Saturday business visitor in Cedar Falls. Mrs F F Burrell and Mrs Frank Burrell spent Saturday afternoon in Vinton. Mrs Westly Amos is home from the canning factory at Vinton with a badly sprained wrist. Billy Hunter had his foot cut Saturday while working on the road. A reception was given Friday evening at the M E church in honor of school faculty. Program and diversion of the evening. Refreshments were served. Edi Moore was called to Kansas City by word announcing the illness of his sister Blanche Cross.
Washington reports Col Lit W Brookhart republican senatorial nominee will not be operated on today due to improved condition. He retired from active campaigning after falling ill at Clermont Iowa. He is troubled by kidney disorder but resting at home and expects to resume speaking tour soon. He plans to travel to Columbus Nebraska September 22 to address a farm group.
Mrs Mabel Brown entertained the Damareth church choir at her La Porte City home Thursday with about twenty five attendees. Dorothy Hobbs of Cedar Falls visited family after returning from a trip. Milo Gilbert of Loew City was a guest of his aunt. Mr and Mrs Jack Schioffet moved to the Robb farm near Ar Ad.
