New York March 23 Charlie Rosenburg defeated Eddie Cannonball Martin in a 15 round bout to claim the world bantamweight championship. Rosenburg dominated most rounds including the fourth through the sixteenth while Martin’s title defense lasted only three months, marking a brief reign in the division.
Last night fights featured Grand Rapids Delaney stopping Soldier King in four rounds. Detroit Frankie Genare beat Joe Lucas by decision. Billy Peterson outpointed Harry Henning in Toronto. Clarence Rosen and Will Spencer drew in Bay city. New York Rosenburg defeated Eddie Martin for bantamweight title in 15 rounds. Bushy Graham beat Harold Smith in Utica. Spirit Lake high defeated Osceola high 21 to 14 in a round robin state Class A final. Dysart and Lawton moved on with wins as the Iowa Class B tournament unfolded with Dysart, Lawton, Grand View and Rippey holding four district titles.
