Rural residents travel for medical and family reasons

Mrs Gerald Palmer and Mrs Andrew Mowbray from the countryside near Garrison spent today in Waterloo. Mrs Roy, Stuf and daughter Virginia of Bruce township visited Town City. Mrs Stout will receive treatments at University hospital and her daughter will have tonsils and adenoids removed. Saturday evening Floyd Dake brought home from Cedar Rapids hospital after several weeks there following a serious operation.

Sixteen Miles of Grant Highway Paving Awarded

A contract for 14 miles of paving on the Grant Highway from Jesup to Winthrop was awarded to Western Asphalt Co. of Sioux City. The $432,000 project will start May 1 and finish November 1, with concrete paving 18 feet wide and eighteen inches deep, reinforced with steel.

Henry Ralston was called to Kansas City Wednesday due to the serious illness of his little son. Mrs. Ralston and the baby are staying with her mother, Mrs. Barah Gee. The baby has improved and the Ralston family plans to return today or tomorrow.
