In a street confrontation at The Rising Sun Billy the Tanner taunts Sir Timothy and a fellow, but Sir Timothy neutralizes him with precise defense while an unnamed ally joins the fight. The crowd and police watch as Billy is knocked to the floor and the pair depart in a car with Lady Cynthia noting the excitement.
Cynthia reveals she followed Sir Tim othy in his chauffeur’s cart to watch his mysterious errand. She boasts of disguise as a female apache and says the fight she witnessed was superior to any prize fight. The couple leaves behind tired crowds and fetid streets toward the Embankment.
Chicago July 8 Five great beacons of five hundred million candle power each and thirty four intermediate beacons of five million candle power will light the 886 mile air mail route from Chicago to Cheyenne. Ground stations will span Chicago Iowa City Omaha North Platte and Cheyenne with emergency landing fields along and near the route ensuring safe havens for fliers.
Mrs Edward Smiley 53 widow of Edward Smiley died July 3 at the home of her daughter Mrs Ralph Long of Fairbank. Funeral held Saturday at 2:30 p m at Fairbank Methodist church. Interment in Fairbank cemetery. Born August 2 1871 in Alhambra Illinois. Married November 22 1896. Survived by son Fred Smiley in government service at Harrison Indiana and daughter Mae Long of Fairbank. Two sisters and brothers listed: Mrs Subre and Arthur Pierce of Alhambra Ill, Mrs Julia Erb of Chicago, J Y Pierce of Ballinger Texas.

Mrs. Mabel Wallace living three miles northwest of Northwood along with her nine year old son Charles died within half an hour after she administered strychnine to them both last night. She had been in town to see a tent show, returning to find the house robbed. Screams of pain woke others and physicians arrived too late.
