Panic Prices and City News From Higley Bros Area

In a crowded 1872 issue the scene includes Higley Bros offerings of hard coal stoves and cider mill goods from Averill & Auidun, plus a large stock of wheels, wagons, and farming gear sold at panic prices. It notes the Star Wagon Company superintendent F. J. Upton returning from the East with Mrs. Ti, and describes a heavy Friday rain that caused street flooding and washed out board-walks on the West Side. It covers a fire department reception at City Hall, a new iron Benton Street bridge contract worth 28 500 dollars, and city tax notices with delinquent property sales looming in October.
