Fragmented Journal Excerpt Recounts Travel and Drama

A garbled diary-like passage describes a journey from Burlington with outsiders named Jaogun and Washburn. It covers railway car rides, romantic tension with a blue-eyed traveler, a public event, and a long river expedition with camp life, exploration of swamps, foundry rooms, and a perilous return, mixing sketches of people and places with disjointed reflections.
