Traveling man from St Louis frames a bank forgery
A Cedar Rapids tale recounts a traveling salesman from St Louis who drew a large draft at a hotel under a false name. He was confronted by local merchants, paid back the money after coercion, and fled east only to be exposed as A B Dunham spelled by telegram as the fraudster. The incident highlights caution against forged drafts and impostors amid a bustling period.
