Farming club table of practical experiments in Utica

The New York Central Farmers Club at Utica discussed practical farming experiments including winter wheat sowing times, grass seed sowing with grass seed and wheat, drilling versus broadcasting grain, potato sprout germination in non irrigated land, costs of pork bread and butters, cow feeding and milk yield, and the value of soil knowledge. The group endorsed liberal premiums for crops that maximize net value per land unit and urged farmers to study soil, use books and papers, and abandon prejudices to improve fortunes in hard times.
