Exhibition of the State Agricultural Society 1871 notes
The Des Moines meeting reports Cedar Rapids as host site for the 18th annual fair with Cedar Rapids officials and citizens delivering a large effort. Fifty-five acres near the business district were prepared at a cost of 25,009 with substantial stone foundations, and a splendid road built at 24,000 to connect grounds and city.
