A Fordville Love Plot and a Christmas Meeting
A tale of a wobbly romance begins with a magazine reader in Fordville, leading to a hidden Miss Nelly Temple and a chance encounter. A visitor to the village bridges the gap between author and muse, playing Uncle Davy’s messenger to unite lovers and ending in a quiet wedding two months later.

Hum Humbugging Pioneer Bitters Provisions Debate
Fragmentary notice recalls a public admonition on the sale and use of bitters and intoxicants with references to regulation and penalties. It mentions a 1816 act and the need to enforce provisions and prevent humbugging behavior. The text hints at a household remedy story and a general assembly discussion.
