Predictions on planetary perihelia over the next years debunked
A Lowellian correspondent ridicules press predictions of pestilence and floods linked to planetary perihelia. He cites Newcomb tables showing Neptune Uranus Saturn and Jupiter perihelia spread across 1880 to 1885, argues Newtonian gravity misapplied, and dismisses wild forecasts as coincidences and ill grounding fear. He asserts only ordinary local weather impacts, not global disaster, will occur in the near term.
