Marion freeway route far from final say in Iowa plan

Ames homeowners along the Cedar Rapids Marion corridor pressed for public hearings as the Iowa highway commission reviewed the proposed Cedar Rapids Marion by pass in the five year plan. Officials said right of way may be touched and the final alignment could shift up to six blocks to favor service and reduce property damage. Public hearings will precede any final decisions as Derby Thompson noted the commission’s responsibility to fix the route.
