Home for the Friendless in Cedar Rapids
A historical sketch details Eleanor Lund's founding of the Home for the Friendless in Cedar Rapids. From 1879 27 students attended Lund's first school of sewing and care, expanding under volunteers until a permanent home opened Oct 9 1884. The project grew through fundraising by local women and donor support, eventually relocating and expanding buildings by 1900 with a memorial window to Lund and furnishings funded by local schoolchildren.
