Marion Independent solvency ratio falls to 5.77 percent
Marion Independent School District reports a solvency ratio of 5.77 percent for the recently ended fiscal year, down from 8.80 percent as reserves were spent and state budget cuts plus lower utility tax revenue reduced funds. The district had 869 898 dollars in undesignated reserves against 15 087 579 dollars in general fund revenues. The board re-elected Tom Thurman as president and Don Norton as vice president and named committee assignments. Superintendent Nick Hobbs says the finance committee will take a more active role in goals and reporting.
