Nine women named to lead two month scrap mobilization plan
The War Production Board designates nine business women to direct a two month mobilization of a women's home army to boost local salvage committees from 14 000 to 25 000 by Christmas. The group will advise state salvage chairs and expand scrap drives across the nation collecting iron steel brass copper aluminum zinc rubber rope rags and fats. The appointees include Edwina Nolan Helen Robertson Jean McDougall Sally Woodward Ruth Atwater Mabel Flannley Alice Haley Essie Elliott Grace Hartley.
