Mistrial Declared in Thompson Murder Case in Iowa City

Charles Thompson’s first degree murder trial ended without a verdict after a videotaped police interview segment was improperly shown. Judge Sean McPartland declared the mistrial as defense attorney Tyler Johnston urged vindication, noting no evidence of Thompson’s involvement. Americans skip medical care to save cash in 2011

Bloomberg News reports a Consumer Reports survey found almost half of 1226 adults taking at least one medication did not fill prescriptions or took less medicine while one in six households and one in four low income families said CARE.

Fewer Iowa same sex households revised down from 2010 Census

The Census Bureau now estimates 4,093 same sex households in Iowa, down from 6,540 reported in July. The revision shows a 10.6 percent rise over 2000 levels, not the previously claimed 77 percent jump. University of Iowa professor Richard Funderburg calls the change remarkable.
