Cedar Rapids Stadium project adds costs but stays on budget
Cedar Rapids city reports an added 235 815 dollars for the Veterans Memorial Stadium project while maintaining a 15.3 million dollar overall budget. A shared parking lot with the school district lowers costs to about 1 million dollars for 1 000 city spaces and 350 school spaces. New underground water and code costs raise expenses as contractor Estes Co. reports progress with steel rising and concession equipment costs redirected.

Linn deputy association drives holiday food baskets
The Linn County Deputy Sheriff Protective Association runs its 13th annual fund drive to supply Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets, about $50 of groceries per basket, for county residents. Recipients are identified by HACAP, with 600 to 700 baskets usually provided yearly. The Versteegh Agency handles donations and takes 25 percent as a fee, with the remainder funding baskets. The drive continues through December, and a Sept 17 18 incident raised $1,255 as the agency pledged its fee to the fund.
