Medicare revisions raise costs for long stays and care
Ball notes higher charges for Medicare patients under the revision. Longer hospital stays after 60 days cost 13 a day, up from 11, while extended care facility stays beyond 20 days rise to 6.50 a day from 5.50. Extra hospital days cost 26 a day instead of 22.
