Legislature eyes repeal or revision of Iowa bottle bill
Iowa lawmakers face a push from business lobbyists and grocers to repeal or overhaul the 5 cent bottle deposit law enacted in 1978. The Iowa Grocery Industry Association backs an expanded statewide recycling program, while supporters claim reform would aid redemption centers and environmental goals. Opponents warn repeal would cut recycling rates and increase roadside litter.
