Conger Metcalf Returns Home For Cedar Rapids Exhibition
Conger Metcalf, a Boston resident for 46 years born in Cedar Rapids, opens a 45-work show and sale at Coe College. He talks of drawing as the core of art, color usage, and his Italian influence from World War II and Florence. He recalls painting techniques learned in a 1940 Mexico trip and Paige Traveling Scholarship, and notes the importance of frame selection.
