Nixon Sees Agnew and Richardson in Meetings
President Nixon held separate Oval Office talks Tuesday with Vice President Agnew and Atty. Gen. Richardson to discuss the federal probe of Agnew over Maryland political kickbacks. Deputy Press Secretary Warren said the sessions lasted about an hour and 30 minutes and 75 minutes respectively, with Asst. Atty. Gen. Petersen also present in the Richardson session. Warren would not discuss details and rejected rumors that Nixon pressed Agnew to resign. Rep. Waldie announced plans to introduce impeachment if courts rule Agnew cannot be investigated, and Judiciary Committee leaders were said to have met on impeachment possibilities. Lawyers for Agnew are preparing a federal motion to block further investigations, arguing a sitting vice president cannot be indicted.

Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko told the U.N. General Assembly that the Big Five should voluntarily reduce military budgets by 10 percent and redirect savings to aid developing nations. He urged all permanent Security Council members to participate and suggested using current year 1973 budgets as a starting point. He tied the proposal to broader disarmament efforts and criticized Western campaigns over emigration, defending Soviet noninterference in internal affairs.

Skylab 2 Astronauts Near Earth After 59 Day Flight
Skylab 2 astronauts Alan Bean Owen Garriott and Jack Lousma were to return to Earth from a 59 day mission that covered over 24 million miles. They planned a risky firing using two good jet thrusters due to leaks in two steering rockets, aiming for a Pacific splashdown aboard the carrier New Orleans. The crew faces postflight readjustment with muscle loss and mild cardiovascular deconditioning but is in better shape than Skylab 1 crews after longer durations in zero gravity.
