Old Phonograph and Records Sold at London Auction
A London dealer paid 139 dollars for an early Edison phonograph and 93 cylinders at Knight, Frank and Rutley. The lot included a 1910 record made as a joke by Carrie Tubb, Covent Garden soprano, during a visit to Edison studios in New Jersey. Miss Tubb, now 94, sang Bid Me to Love as a joke because it is a baritone’s song.
