Coe ROTC History Marks 50 Years Of Military Training
Fifty years after Judge C. B. Robbins recruited 20 Coe students into Company D of the national guard, Coe College’s ROTC program began, with later AF ROTC sessions marking the air force program’s 20th anniversary. Early drills were brief, with duties on the Mexican border and wartime calls, then SATC in 1918 and ROTC beginnings in 1919. Coe switched to air force ROTC in 1948 and remains among top AFROTC units by enrollment percentage.
