Be careful what you flush in Williamsburg
Williamsburg residents are urged to stop flushing paper towels diapers and hygiene wipes. Public works director John Avery says these items clog lift stations and sewers and cause basement backups. Crews must remove blockages by hand with gloves while stressing proper trash disposal to avoid sewer wear and tear.
