Boston Area Gang Guns Kill 2 More
In Middleton Massachusetts two underworld figures Stephen Hughes and Samuel Lindenbaum were killed by rifle fire from a car as they drove toward Boston. The assassins used an automatic weapon, with at least seven shots fired. The victims’ car crashed after being struck, and two small dogs survived under the seats. The killings are tied to Boston area numbers rackets and push the gangland death toll to 32 since March 1964.

Nixon warns five-year Vietnam war span at current rate
Former Vice President Nixon told about 1,000 at the Nebraska Republican convention that at the present pace it would take five more years to end the Vietnam War. He urged Republicans to lead and outlined steps to shorten the conflict, including intensified air and sea power and a quarantine of North Vietnam. He warned of rising casualties and a possible third world war if the war drags on.

Juror Fined for Sleuthing Task in manslaughter case
Seattle AP report says juror Leland LaFollette 29 was convicted of contempt of court and fined 100 dollars for seeking outside verification of testimony in the Harold Hawkins manslaughter trial. Hawkins, a Chelan tavern owner, was convicted in the death of former Entiat volunteer fire chief W. F. Hinton after testimony on Hawkins paratroop training at Fort Bragg.
