Judge dismisses suit to block ethanol plant
Montezuma Iowa A Poweshiek County judge dismissed a 2006 lawsuit by Vernon and Loretta Van Wyk and Gene and Mary Lacaeuse against the county open meetings claim. The plaintiffs alleged the Board of Supervisors violated open meetings law in rezoning. The plant’s cost exceeds 150 million dollars with 30 to 40 jobs and annual ethanol output of 100 million gallons. Lamoyne Gaard said construction could begin this fall.
