Area 10 braces for 6.3 million college project
Superintendent Selby Ballantyne said Area 10 aims to secure at least 6.375 million dollars in three years for a new community college. State funds 3.825 million, federal 2.55 million, local 1 million state grant, 2.325 million levy, and 0.5 million more building funds expected. Construction could start next March with architects already at work. The board approved Dennis Johnson as computer operator at 6500 yearly and moving expenses for Dr. Vernon Pickett. A 600 cap was set for Pickett relocation. The district will join the Iowa Association of School Boards and the levy vote showed 11,378 in favor and 5,492 against.
