Shippers Stand Against Rate Rise in Midwest Rail Case

The Interstate Commerce Commission may reopen the western trunk line class rate case. Eastern Iowa Industrial association will oppose rate hikes that hurt interior Iowa industries against eastern competitors. A Cedar Rapids conference set this stance with railroads and traffic officials. Railroads claim an $11 million revenue loss since December 3, 1931, and seek new rate schemes. Traffic men will defer to legal and executive offices. They then met the Iowa Warehouse men's association on transport issues. Also noted is Europe housing 80 percent of the world's motorcycles with Germany 760,000 and the UK 640,000 units.
