Public hearings eyed for proposed mini city housing code
Housing code committee chair Scott Olson and Commissioner Floyd Bergen discuss scheduling two public hearings, one day and one night, to gather input. The panel has debated the code since 1977, aiming for mandatory enforcement, a housing services division, rental permits, and regular inspections, with county health staff currently enforcing. Harold Ewoldt of the Chamber notes concern for fair treatment of landlords and tenants, while some residents question the need for a new code if current rules could be enforced more strictly.
