Mrs Baerthel of Cedar Rapids preceded by marriage to Mr John Kerr of Rosemead California is remembered for her time in Cedar Rapids. She belonged to the first Lutheran church Pythian Sisters Women’s Benefit Association and Women of the Moose. The body will be returned to Turner's Burial in Oak Hill.
Services for Mrs. James A Walsh are planned for 9 Wednesday at St Patrick's Church with Rt Rev Msgr D J Lenihan presiding. Burial will be at Mt Calvary. Msgr Lenihan will lead the Rosary at 7:30 Tuesday and the Knights of Columbus event at Brady mortuary on Tuesday. friends may call.
Jay Taylor 73 of 926 Tenth St SE died Sunday after a long illness. Born July 29 1885 in Centerville he will be laid to rest at Oak Hill graveside service at 10 Tuesday.

Mrs. Henry Eckstein of 1920 First Ave NE Cedar Rapids died after a long illness. Born in Boone she lived in Cedar Rapids 23 years and left a daughter Catherine Eckstein principal at Cleveland School. Services at Turner's at 1:30 Tuesday with graveside Boone Wednesday.

In district court Monday a jury was selected for a case filed by Oberlin Heglund for his son Dennis against driver Edward Simon. The suit seeks 2000 in actual damages and 3000 in punitive damages for a February 28 incident where a 15 year old boy dangled from a moving car window. Cedar Rapids man James William Kasper, 64, was charged in district court with a third offense drunk driving after police saw his vehicle obstructing traffic on Eighth Avenue. Kasper has prior Linn County convictions on November 16 1935 and November 8 1954. Also Waterloo resident Ellea Breeden 32 pled guilty to a drunk driving charge and faces sentencing next Monday after arrest May 17 by Municipal Court Bailiff Jack Bates.
Delmar Bear age 42 of 520 Fifth Ave SE will spend a year in Fort Madison prison for a parole violation. He pled guilty August 18 to desertion and abandonment and received a one year paroled sentence. Police picked him up early Sunday in Cedar Rapids after revocation for failing to support his children and for drinking.
A charge of driving while his license was suspended was filed Monday against William Roger Wanatee, 827 Bave. NE. He was arrested Sunday by Cedar Rapids police after his machine struck the rear of a car on Ellis boulevard NW. In municipal court Monday, Wanatee was sentenced to a total of 60 days in the county jail on charges of in-].
Albena Holets filed a legal petition Monday seeking $260 in back wages from Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Sherman. The action names the Sherman couple and specifies the wage claim.
UNITED NATIONS AP India and six Asian African nations urged the General Assembly to reverse a Steering Committee decision and consider seating Red China. Two pale exhausted volunteers emerge from a 16 000 foot simulated altitude space cabin at Randolph Air Force Base after 10 days.
