Congress Absent Support for Oleomargarine Standards Bill
National dairy groups vow full backing for Rep August Andresen’s bill in Congress to curb interstate sale of oleomargarine made under contested standards. The measure targets yellow dyed or butterlike oleomargarine and would empower courts and FDA to seize violators. Wisconsin dairy interests press repeal of the oleo order amid widespread farm opposition.
