The first carload of new crop soybeans reached Cedar Rapids from Cedar Point Illinois and was consigned to North Iowa Grain. Iowa Milling Company of Cedar Rapids, led by manager Joe Sinaiko, bought six more carloads and contracted beans from Urbana area noting two week earlier processing. The Urbana beans fetch 76 cents per bushel No 2 grade. first carload graded No 3 yellow with 14 percent splits and 3 percent foreign material. test weight 56.5 pounds. moisture 12.2 percent. Corn also arrived from Milford Iowa graded No 5 yellow, test weight 54.5 pounds, moisture 20.9 percent. auctioned for 55 cents per bushel.
