He was born in Chicago November 28 1861 and lived in Cedar Rapids since 1864. The obituary notes his long tenure at the Iowa Electric Light and Power Co and his role in local utilities.
Spanish police said Etienne Mario Combes confessed to killing Magistrate Albert Prince whose body was found on Dijon railroad tracks last spring. Prince was linked to the Stavisky banking scandal and was due to testify as a witness. An inquiry cited a woman claiming Prince discussed suicide and a staged murder.
Former Governor Alfred E. Smith suffered a slight heart attack at St. Ignatius Loyola church in New York while attending a funeral for a friend. He learned that the Rev. John N. Farley of Washington had died suddenly in the church rectory.
