Garwin Man, 56, Killed in Crash
Special to The Gazette Marven D. Sells of rural Garwin, 56, was found dead near his car in a ditch at the west edge of Garwin about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday after a suspected Monday night crash. The wreck happened on the Garwin Gladbrook blacktop, and Sells was thrown from the vehicle. He is survived by a brother Rex. The body was taken to Erickson funeral home.

City to buy land near Ditch for flood control and park space
Cedar Rapids will seek federal Open Spaces funds to purchase flood prone properties along the west end of the Vinton ditch within 200 feet of the ditch from Fifteenth street NW to Jacelyn park. The plan aims to curb flood risk, restrict further development, and add park land with a detention basin west of Edgewood road. The city will cover about half of the cost with remaining funds from federal aid.

250 American Planes Pound North Vietnam
U S planes swept into North Vietnam in a six hour raid near the DMZ, with 200 fighter-bombers and up to 50 support aircraft targeting anti aircraft guns, SAM batteries, depots, and truck parks.
