Uneasy Katanga Cease-Fire Aims for Truce

An uneasy provisional cease-fire in Katanga was announced as Tshombe and the U N Command signed an accord to freeze forces. Congo premier Adoula warned of forceful responses to secession while Lumumba’s shadow loomed over Kinshasa. A mixed 4 member commission will supervise terms and prisoner exchange, with Katanga and U N forces allowed to keep troops and supplies.

One Killed Seven Injured by Falling Wall in Sioux City

A brick wall from a building under razing collapsed in downtown Sioux City killing Roy Lorenzon and injuring seven wrecking crew workers. The incident occurred in the basement hole after a two story wall gave way during two weeks of demolition. Hospitalized were six with fair to good conditions and one with minor cuts. Proceedings involved police and fire crews extracting victims as 9 to 100 workers were present nearby.
