University of Iowa expands international student recruiting

The University of Iowa increased its international recruitment budget from 2007 08 to 2012 as part of a push to grow its international student population. The undergraduate count rose from 380 in 2006 to 1 736 this fall, while total international students reached 3 465, a 35 percent rise over 2010 levels and more than a 350 percent increase overall.

Von Maur plans shift to Iowa River Landing in 18 months

Sycamore Mall may lose traffic as Von Maur targets a Main Street anchor at Iowa River Landing within about 18 months. Von Maur currently anchors on the south end of Coralville’s Corridor. Mall officials would not confirm details and note a lease exists. Sycamore Mall previously received a seven year tax increment financing package in 2004 to attract Panera Bread, renovate the theater, and support the center’s finances.
