Bartel Hearing Gets 7 Day Stay
Johnson county Iowa supervisor Michard Bartel won a seven day stay granted by two Iowa Supreme Court justices. The move lets his attorneys request a federal court to remove the election contest from a tribunal. Bartel’s seat on the Johnson County board is challenged by defeated Republican contender PLC Walters. The Iowa code requires a tribunal of the board chair and two appointees from the contesting parties to hear contests. The tribunal’s first session, set for Thursday, was canceled.
