Rapids judge bars order to end strike but stops short of forcing workers back
District Judge William Eads refused to dissolve the temporary injunction against Cedar Rapids city employees striking over compensation. He held the strike illegal in parts but said workers cannot be compelled to return to work under contempt threats. The ruling notes health and safety hazards from the stoppage and garbage buildup, while saying the court will not resolve broader social issues behind the dispute.
