New Industrial Park Planned Near Urbana
Benton County Rural Electric Cooperative to open a 160 acre industrial park on the Lawrence Hess farm two miles from Interstate 380 exits, west of Urbana and northeast of Vinton. Development includes plat, land use plan, and codes with 20 to 30 acres in initial development while cropland remains productive.

Cedar Rapids man charged in sexual mistreatment case
Craig Gardner a 35 year old of 1018 Ninth St NW was arrested Tuesday and charged with second degree sexual mistreatment in connection with an incident involving a 14 year old girl. Police say he took the girl from a baby sitter job and assaulted her at knifepoint on River Bend Road near 42nd Street NE. He is jailed on 30000 bond with a potential 25 year sentence. Gardner has prior felony convictions.

Cedar Rapids Tavern Faces Court Over Water Quality
The Iowa Environmental Protection Commission voted to refer The New Shack Tavern to the Attorney General for prosecution after missed water sample tests. Two of six well water samples failed bacterial standards, and the tavern allegedly did not post a public notice or respond to further testing requests. Owner Roger Carnicle attributes the issue to a sampling mixup. A 1987 court order required ongoing well water monitoring.
