Educator Madeline Hunter Stresses Teaching Influence in Cedar Rapids
California educator Madeline Hunter addressed nearly 2,000 Cedar Rapids Marion teachers at the Paramount Theatre, arguing teachers can alter learning by how they question and respond to students. She called teaching decision making and said professionalism shapes student lives, urging active use of instructional research and quick in-class checks like a thumb test. Hunter noted teachers make about 5,000 decisions daily and urged focus on understanding student knowledge gaps. She met with Cedar Rapids Community district committees after the talk and planned further meetings with administrators.
