Immaculate Conception defeated Sacred Heart of Waterloo 7 to 2 at Daniels Park Sunday. Michael homered for Sacred Heart in the second, while Hausladen had a peculiar baserunning play on a foul call. Knowles earned the win for Immaculate Conception with support from Fagan and Hayes on the mound.
Coggon high school topped Walker 3-2 in 12 innings to run its winning streak to four. John McAreavy stole home for the decisive run in the 12th as Rob inson earned the victory for Coggon, which outhit Walker 11 to 4.
Paul Brechler University of Iowa athletic director will speak at the Young Men's Bureau Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce dinner October 5. The event at the Palisades will feature Brechler presenting film highlights of Iowa versus Southern California.

Hunter that Carmichael’s petition to reinstate eligibility was approved after questions raised by a brief Rams tryout during his marine service.
Twenty five of the 35 United Press football rating board coaches choose Notre Dame as the No. 1 team for 1950. Notre Dame totals 311 points on ballots with five coaches placing them first and two placing them third. Army Texas and Tennessee receive other top votes.

Elmcrest Country Club completes second round matches in the women’s handicap tournament co chaired by Mrs. Ludmil Prastka and Mrs. Marshall Hickman. Championship flight results include Mrs. Frederick over McGuire 2 and Griffin over Lynch 4 3. Other flights report winners and defaults in close matches across multiple flights.
Wyoming defeated Oxford Junction 11 to 10 in nine innings to stretch its string to five straight high school baseball wins. Dick Cox delivered the game winning RBI with a single in the ninth, as the lead traded hands four times.
Cary Middlecoff and Ed Porky Oliver tied 270 after regulation in the St. Louis Open. In a sudden death playoff Middlecoff sank a 20-foot eagle putt on No 20 to capture the $2,600 top prize in the $15,000 tournament.
Frank Sedgman of Australia dominated Ted Schroeder of the United States in straight sets to win the 24th Pacific Coast championships in Los Angeles. Sedgman won 9-7 6-3 6-2 after weathering an early challenge from Schroeder.
Rowley independent baseball team defeats Walker 3-2 to claim its second win as it prepares to join the Buchanan league next year. game held Sunday at Rowley.
Chelsea-Clutier won 13 to 3 over Chelsea in a high school game on Monday. Bates of Clutier hit a bases loaded triple as the team exploded for a 12 run third inning, with Sienknecht Bates and others contributing in the offensive surge.
