Des Moines Woman Delivers Healthy Poliomyelitis Patient’s Son

Mrs Melvin Allison aged 24 from Des Moines, a polio patient at Broadlawns General Hospital, gave birth to a six pound three ounce boy on Friday. Hospital officials said the baby was perfectly normal and both mother and child were doing fine Saturday.

Funeral services set for Pfc. Keith Ottsen in Cedar Rapids

Pfc. Keith Frederick Ottsen killed in action near St. Vith Belgium Feb 2 1945 will be buried at Cedar Memorial cemetery graveside at 2 pm Tuesday. Rev G Maurice Ottsen and Rev D A Loferski will conduct. Ottsen volunteered to deliver a message under fire and died from a mortar blast. He was 21 born July 17 1923 and survived by his parents two brothers and three nieces and a nephew.

Ellis the Seafaring Cedar Rapids Native Returns After 45 Years

George Ellis, born and raised in Cedar Rapids, returned for the first time in 45 years. He recalled donating land for Ellis Park by his father and shared sea adventures from 1903 onward, including a volcanic eruption near Mt Katmai and a shipwreck. He plans to travel to Chicago before returning to Puget Sound. An unrelated car crash at 1507 Third Avenue SE involved Mrs. Sunde, who required stitches. she faces charges for failure to have control.
