CDC urges universal flu vaccination as season nears

Highway 100 ramp closure links to Edgewood work
The north ramp at Highway 100 Edgewood Road will close Monday weather permitting as the Highway 100 extension progresses. Traffic will switch to the south ramp, which opens, to allow north ramp reconstruction. The south half of the Edgewood intersection near Hy-Vee also closes with traffic to the business plaza kept on the north side. The Iowa DOT notes no change to Edgewood Road patterns. Separately Linn County authorities identify Shawn Patrick Simmons 57 of Cedar Rapids who died after a Wednesday crash on Highway 30. Simmons died at St. Luke’s Hospital from a life threatening condition. The BMW driven by Simmons left the road and contacted another vehicle driven by Donald Williamson 62 of Camanche causing minor damage. The crash remains under investigation.
