Washington AP reported farmers send few hogs to market prompting the agriculture department to permit processors to use more beef and less pork in hot dogs to avoid supply disruptions. The temporary rule, in effect until July 1, 1928, allows pork as low as zero percent while beef must total at least 40 percent. Farmers have reduced hog production due to high feed costs, with significant pork gains not expected before mid-1976.

Pickup Collision Injures Strawberry Point Man in Wisconsin
Straw Berry Point resident Mark Fedler is listed in fair condition at a Lacrosse hospital after a pickup crash with a gasoline tank truck driven by 24 year old Dennis Eikenberry of Oelwein. The two-vehicle wreck occurred Wednesday on Highway 13 three miles north of here. Eikenberry was uninjured.
