Portland Chamber of Commerce President Dies in Mountain Tragedy
Gar nett Cannon, 60, of Portland, recounts a deadly White Pass storm while hiking with Una V. Davies, 65, of Lake Oswego. The two faced 85 mph winds as rescuers came after a long wait, with Davies dying quietly in her sleeping bag. A wall of snow trapped the pair ten miles south of the summit.
