Complications Arise With Chattel Mortgages In Iowa Foreclosures
Complications arise where chattel mortgages intersect first mortgage foreclosures on farm lands as lenders report loan holders resist surrender of income from livestock and crops to taxes and interest. Insurance companies and loan agencies say foreclosures rise when parties cannot agree, even with bank receiverships. Representatives from Midland Mortgage, National Life, Bankers Life, and Cedar Rapids counsel urge cooperation to avoid foreclosures and note many policyholders share ownership in mutual companies.
