Keokuk County Conservation Board decided not to rebuild the 1867 Delta covered bridge destroyed by arson. A replica may be built later at Belva Deer Park or other site, with a commemorative plaque at the arson site. No arrests yet. investigators following leads.

Flansburg Wins Special Central City Council Seat
Mary Flansburg won a two year term on the Central City Council in a special election defeating Dick Parmenter 83 to 61. Turnout was 18.4 percent. Flansburg, 34, is an accounting manager for Colony Heating and Air Conditioning and previously filled the post since July. Parmenter served ten years on the council in the 1980s and 1990s.
