Iowa City road office planned despite protests from legislators
The Iowa highway commission will establish a road construction engineers office in Iowa City to handle work on highways 218 and 1 and the new Interstate 380. Gov. Ray vetoed an amendment opposing relocations, prompting ongoing legal challenges and debate over moving Maquoketa staff. Weighed objections cite economic impact on communities and workload considerations.
