Low EPA Radiation Oversight Cited by GAO

The GAO charges the EPA lacks scope and resources to study radiation risks and has issued no effective standard in six years. About 22,000 Americans annually develop cancer or genetic disorders from radiation, with monitoring failing to cover 40 percent of the public. Air Force Plane Crashes Killing 20 at Manzano Base

An air force four engine aircraft crashed into a mountainside at Manzano base near Kirtland, killing all twenty aboard. The craft exploded half a mile from nuclear material bunkers three minutes after takeoff at 11 45 p m from Kirtland. Fire teams recovered at least fifteen bodies in a predawn search.

Washington reports major charges against Bert He alleging illegal financing of his 1974 Georgia gubernatorial bid with over 1.2 million in Calhoun First National overdrafts.
